Slice safety scissors: Effective, safe, innovative

Kids love crafts, but most educators lament how difficult it is to find a pair of kids’ safety scissors that actually work. Slice has answered this call with its safety scissors, which are durable, safe and effective.

Traditional safety scissors for kids
Typical children’s scissors feature blunted metal or plastic blades. This makes them somewhat safer, but it introduces another major problem: they don’t work well. These scissors are notorious for mashing or tearing materials, or just not doing the job at all. This leads to frustration from children and educators alike.

Traditional scissors for kids can also tend toward being flimsy and easy to break. In a chaotic, energetic room full of kids, this leads to broken scissors that need to be replaced.

Slice Safety Scissors – For children and adults
Slice addresses these concerns. Slice safety scissor blades are made of 100 per cent zirconium oxide, an advanced ceramic. Slice applies its patent-pending blade design, which makes its scissors sharp enough to cut common craft materials but safe enough to touch: all Slice blades are finger-friendly.

Zirconium oxide is extremely hard and, combined with Slice’s proprietary blade design, it is very long-lasting: the blades keep their edge up to 11 times longer than metal blades.

The handles are made of a tough, durable, and lightweight glass-filled nylon, and the scissors are BPA-, phthalate-, and lead-free. The finger holes feature a soft-touch grip material for comfort and to reduce slippage.

Their durable materials and quality construction make Slice scissors able to withstand repeated use in demanding conditions. The scissors also don’t rust and are easy and safe to clean. They readily cut through all the craft favourites: construction paper, tissue paper, cotton balls and felt. Their lightweight construction makes them easy for small hands to handle while they master fine motor skills.

Three models to fill various needs
Slice makes three models of safety scissors: Slice 10544 Small Scissors, Slice 10545 Large Scissors, and Slice 10546 Pointed-Tip Scissors. All three pairs have short blades, which makes them easy to manoeuvre. And, like all Slice tools, they work for both those who are left-handed and right-handed, which means they’re great sharing scissors.

The Small Scissors are a great choice for small hands. They feature two smaller finger holes that fit in children’s – and most adult – hands. Their blunted tips make them particularly well suited for use by younger people.

The Large Scissors allow for a four-finger, one-thumb grip and accommodate larger hands. The grip provides more stability so makes cutting easier. These scissors also feature blunted tips, so are appropriate for classroom settings.

If you need to initiate a cut with a puncture hole, the Slice Pointed-Tip Scissors get that job done. Though the blade edges are safe to touch, the tips do pose a puncture hazard, so they should be kept stored away from curious youngsters.

Slice: Safety beyond scissors
Slice makes a full line of cutting tools beyond scissors, including many craft tools such as its craft knife, which fits a variety of blades; the Slice Precision Cutter, with its unique micro-ceramic finger-friendly blade; and the Slice 10580 Precision Knife.
