The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) has made significant changes to the Chromebook locked down browser (LDB) for NAPLAN 2024.
The changes require schools to complete additional installation tasks after deploying the new LDB to student devices.
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) annual assessment for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 is due to take place from 13-25 March 2024.
To facilitate a smooth test experience, NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) is strongly recommending that prior to testing, students log into the device they will be using for NAPLAN to allow the LDB installation to complete.
Schools which plan to use Chromebooks for NAPLAN 2024 are advised to read the information available on the NESA website.
NESA has also released a 4-minute video that demonstrates the new process for installing and launching the 2024 Chromebook LDB on a student device.
New locked down browsers for Windows, Mac, iPad, Chromebook, and Android are available for NAPLAN 2024. Information on how to download each LDB can be found on the Online National Assessment Platform.
Staff involved with administering NAPLAN can access online training from Tuesday 6 February to Friday 8 March. Further information about NAPLAN training can be found on the NESA website.
