Education Services Australia (ESA) has appointed Ms Vicki Baylis as board chair and welcomed three new independent experts as board directors, effective from 1 March.
Ms Baylis replaces outgoing chair, Ms Diane Joseph, and is joined by new directors Mr Tony Brennan, Ms Felicity Thomlinson and Ms Jenny Johanson.
Ms Johanson has also been appointed as the chair of ESA’s Finance, Risk and Audit Committee.
ESA said it was pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Baylis as its new board chair.
“I am confident that our incoming board chair, Vicki Baylis, together with board directors, will provide the leadership and expertise to ensure the work and reputation of ESA remains well regarded locally, nationally and internationally,” CEO Andrew Smith said.
ESA said Ms Baylis has extensive experience and dedication to education, beginning her career as a classroom teacher, then serving the Queensland and Northern Territory Departments of Education, chair of the Australian Education Senior Officials Committee (AESOC) and of the Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Education Advisory Group to AESOC.
“Most recently, Vicki has provided invaluable contributions as a member of ESA’s board, and we proudly welcome Vicki in this new role of chair.”
Ms Baylis said serving on the board for the past year has been a rewarding experience.
“I’m eager to continue supporting ESA to make a positive difference in education in this new capacity,” she said.
ESA thanked its outgoing chair and board members.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank our outgoing chair, Diane Joseph, for her tremendous leadership and dedication to the ESA board during her seven-year tenure, and to bid farewell retiring board members Mark Lamont and Sam Spadavecchia for their support and guidance, and the great work we’ve achieved together,” it said.
