NGS Super has opened applications for its refreshed 2020 Scholarship Awards, and is encouraging members to apply for the chance to win one of six $5000 awards.
Now in its 11th year, the fund has awarded over $300,000 to more than 45 recipients to accelerate their professional development while also contributing to communities and the wider education sector.
In 2020, the awards have been redesigned to focus on identifying and funding the very best ideas that address the challenges of today’s world. The categories have been updated to ensure funding goes to applicants who are committed to making a positive impact. Applicants are asked to submit an idea to one of two ‘focus’ categories — Navigating life and Sustainability — or the General category.
Laura Wright, CEO of NGS Super, is encouraging teachers, management and support staff to all get involved in the refreshed program this year.
“We’ve been giving back to the education sector for a long time, but 2020 has been particularly tough and we really believe teachers, carers and all workers in the sector deserve acknowledgment and support more than ever this year,” she said.
“We’re searching for innovative and out-of-the-box ideas that help young people navigate life and build resilience, whether that’s negotiating social media, or getting kids financially fit now to create future security.
“We also want to recognise ideas that promote sustainability, which is a fundamental focus for the fund – ideas can range from a simple kitchen garden through to ‘citizen science’ projects that will help our young people become leaders in a sustainable future”.
