Nominations open for ATEA awards, grants

The Australian Teachers Education Associations (ATEA) 2021 awards and grants opportunities are now open for submissions.

These are a crucial part of the work that ATEA does in the field of teacher education, which it aims to encourage and promote research, innovation and evaluation in all aspects of teacher education and to recognise excellence in teacher education.

TES – ATEA Teacher Educator of the Year Award

The aim of the TES- ATEA Teacher Educator of the Year Award is to encourage and recognise the innovative teaching practices of a teacher educator at university level.

Nominations will be accepted from scholars whose primary activity is teaching in undergraduate
or postgraduate Teacher Education.

The TES – ATEA Teacher Educator of the Year award recipient will receive:
• Framed certificate: TES – ATEA Teacher Educator of the Year Award, presented at the 2021 gala conference dinner.
• $5000 courtesy of TES.
• Complimentary registration to 2021 ATEA Conference (includes ATEA membership for 2021-22 financial year).

Total value $5600.

ATEA Early Career Researcher Grant

The ATEA Early Career Researcher Grant is to support an early career researcher (ECR) to develop their capacity by encouraging them to work on a project based around teacher education.

The grant will support a research project that can be completed in a one-year time frame from July 2021, in line with the annual ATEA national conference.

The recipient of the grant will present the outcomes of their research project at the 2022 conference.

A grant of $2000 for research support, as well as complimentary registration for the 2022 ATEA Conference will be awarded to the successful applicant.

The total value of the grant (money and conference registration) is $2600.
