eSafety’s network of trusted education providers has worked with almost half of Australia’s schools to deliver online safety education for more than 1.3 million students, parents and educators last financial year.

Julie Inman Grant

eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant congratulated the 28 Trusted eSafety Providers for providing online safety education to more than 1.1 million Australian students, 145,000 parents and 31,000 educators in 2022-23.

“Our Trusted eSafety Providers share our conviction that the internet is a gateway to many positive and wonderful experiences for children and young people, as long as we equip them with the tools and skills to stay safer online,” Ms Grant said.

“These 28 providers worked with more than a quarter of Australian students and over 5,000 schools in just 12 months. They helped students increase their understanding of online risks and what to do if something makes them feel uncomfortable or unsafe.

“We’re also delighted by the number of parents who accessed these programs: nearly three times as many in 2022-23 compared to the previous financial year. We hope more and more parents follow their lead. Effective online safety education requires a whole-of-school-community approach with consistent values, practices and messages,” she said.

Trusted eSafety Providers are endorsed by eSafety after demonstrating their expertise and experience, commitment to evaluation and improvement, and compliance with appropriate child safety and insurance requirements.

“As schools turn their thoughts to planning for 2024, I encourage them to consider working with these trusted providers to empower their students to safely harness all the positives of the online world,” Ms Grant said.

“Our endorsed providers work directly with schools to tailor an online safety education program that meets their students’ needs across a wide range of topics. They can also deliver parent and family programs, and work with school leaders to develop and implement whole-school policies and procedures.

“By building partnerships with organisations that deliver high-quality online safety education, eSafety can help more Australians access the support they need to have positive online experiences,” she said.

eSafety thanks the following providers for the outstanding 2022-23 results: Alannah & Madeline Foundation, Backflips Against Bullying (Action Education), Body Safety Australia, Brainstorm Productions, Bravehearts Foundation Limited, Bully Zero, Cyber Safety Project, CyberPASS, Cybersafe Families, DiGii Social, Elephant Ed, eSafeKids, Evolve Education, Eyes Open Social Media Safety, Inform & Empower, Internet Safe Education (Brett Lee), Interrelate Limited, Life Ed, Online Guardians, Optus Digital Thumbprint, PROJECT ROCKIT, Real Talk Australia, Sex Education Australia (SEA), Sexual Health Victoria, South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault (SECASA), The Carly Ryan Foundation, WA Child Safety Services, yourtown.
