The Powell Legacy Fund has been established to provide grants and scholarships in education, agriculture, and volunteering.

The fund is in recognition of Ross and Andy Powell, who were life-long members of the Port Campbell Surf Life Saving Club.

Minister for Education Dan Tehan said the Federal Department of Education, Skills and Employment was contributing $100,000 to the fund in recognition of the Powell family’s passion for education.

“The Powell Legacy Fund will support young people as they transition from school to higher education and the workforce,” Mr Tehan said.

“The scholarships could assist school leavers to pursue university or vocational education and training courses, education or training programs, or to undertake work experience or work integrated learning as part of their studies.

“Education and furthering skills was a passion of Ross and Andy Powell, and it is only fitting that their work in the community is recognised through these grants and scholarships.”

The DemoDAIRY Foundation will administer the fund.
