Are you considering teaching in Queensland? Teach Queensland is hosting a free online Live Chat on Tuesday 11 June 2024 to answer any questions you might have about living and teaching in the Sunshine State.
If you are a beginning teacher, experienced teacher or school leader and you’re considering or ready to make a change, join us online to find out why teaching in Queensland state schools (public schools) could be the best move for you.
Hear from our Teach Queensland Ambassadors and discover the career and lifestyle opportunities you can benefit from in Queensland’s diverse school communities.
The Ambassadors will speak from personal experience about moving from interstate and overseas, providing a good perspective for anyone considering doing the same.
One Ambassador, who features in the Love to Teach Queensland campaign, is Thomas McKenna, Principal at St George State High School in Queensland’s south-west region.
He is a strong advocate for teaching in Queensland state schools and living in a rural community.
“I love the experiences I get as a teacher in Queensland,” Thomas said.
“In New York, you teach at one school and that’s where you stay your entire career. In Queensland you can teach all over. It’s given me opportunities and those opportunities have been advancing my career.
“There are a lot of incentives for going out rural and remote and the further you go, the incentives get higher. You get extra days off, you get a yearly allowance, you get a locality allowance. There’s a lot of benefits and that’s probably not even half of them.
“I’ve taught all over the world, and Queensland is the best spot, period.”
Queensland state school teachers benefit from secure jobs, competitive salaries and incentives, and a range of professional and personal benefits.
Take your first step towards Queensland—join us at the Love to Teach Queensland Live Chat from 5:00pm to 6:00pm (AEST) on Tuesday 11 June 2024.
The Queensland Department of Education employs teachers from interstate and New Zealand in state schools across Queensland and make offers of employment all year round. If you’re ready to make a change, apply on the Teach Queensland website.
