School’s across the country are encouraged to have students learn the value of helping others by participating in this year’s World’s Greatest Shave.
The March fundraiser sees Australians gain sponsorship to shave or colour their hair, raising money for blood cancer.
‘Funky Hair Day’ is a popular way for schools and students to participate, which encourages students and teachers to colour, wax or style their hair and bring a gold coin donation.
“It’s easy to join in. Simply sign up to shave, colour or wax your hair – which you can do at home, work, school or at our public events. Ask your family and friends to sponsor you and we’ll send you a free kit with some helpful tips and tools” said Leukaemia Foundation CEO Bill Petch.
“A diagnosis of blood cancer is invariably unexpected, and in acute cases treatment must begin within 24 hours. The funds raised means we can provide transport, accommodation, counselling and research.”
World’s Greatest Shave takes place from March 16-19.
Educational providers are encouraged to sign up their school and invite everyone to join your team by email, posters, invitations on social media and text messages to friends. They can also spread the word by including details of their fundraising in the school newsletter to parents.
